Surrogacy is indicated for a number of reasons.
1. A patient that has had a hysterectomy.
2. A patient whose uterus is incapable of sustaining a pregnancy.
3. A patient that will be medically compromised if she is pregnant.
4. A patient who is on medication that cannot be prescibed in pregnancy.
Potential surrogates need to be carefully screened physically as well as psychologically.
It is also important that contracts be written up for both parties before commencing the In Vitro Fertilisation treatment.
Medfem Clinic has a strong surrogacy program and urges all intended parents to make contact with the clinic for further information.
