Gynaecology and Andrology Treatment

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been shown, in controlled scientific studies, to be effective in helping treat male and female infertility problems. It has, traditionally been successfully employed for approximately 4000 years to treat most illnesses, but in recent years, there have been several studies demonstrating the clinical value of acupuncture for both male and female infertility problems. Interestingly, collaborated acupuncture research has shown to improve your pregnancy and live birth rate by up to 35% in combination with Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART’s).

Acupuncture is the insertion of ultra-thin, sterile needles into specific acupuncture points on the body These points, when needled, can regulate the way in which the body functions, while restoring the homeostatic balance of the body. It is not a painful process and many can testify to its relaxing and therapeutic effect.

Acupuncture can be used to treat:

·        Elevated follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)

·        Repeated miscarriages

·        Unexplained (idiopathic) infertility

·        Endometriosis

·        Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)

·        Decreased sperm quality and motility

·        Severe menopausal symptoms

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Protocol

Acupuncture is similar to physiotherapy in that it is a process oriented method of medical intervention. It is better to do more than less. Patients are commonly treated for two to three months before an Artificial Insemination (AI), In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), or Embryo Transfer (ET).

The Chinese refer to TCM treatment before any ART as “preparing the soil” before implantation.

However, you can decide to start with acupuncture at any stage of your fertility management, and it is never too late to incorporate TCM in combination with other treatments.

Both collaborative research and our experience have shown that the integration of Traditional Western and Chinese Medicine, is powerful and effective.
